How to Install a Whole Home Surge Protector

Whole home surge protectors are a great way to protect your electrical system and everything connected to it. If you live in an area where their are lots of storms or high winds then you may have experienced electrical surges. As you know, this can be very damaging too your electrical system. It can also be damaging to the equipment that it is plugged into. By installing a whole home surge protector, you can save yourself thousands of dollars in damages from one of these storms. The great thing about these is that they are easy to install as well.

All you need is a couple breakers and the surge protector. You want to make sure you install the 2 pole 20 amp breaker for the surge protector on the top two left hand spots of the electrical panel. This way it will fully protect each phase of the electrical panel. You will notice green indicator lights on the surge protector after you turn on the breaker. This lets you know that it is working.
