How to Fix a Breaker Box that Keeps Tripping

Have you replaced an outlet or switch recently? Did your breaker fail to reset after you installed the outlet or switch? If this is the case, there is not too much to be worried about at this point. More than likely you have a ground wire touching the hot wire in the electrical box that you installed the outlet in. Or one of the hot screws on the electrical outlet is touching the metal electrical box.

Remove the electrical device again and inspect for any signs of arcing. Pull the outlet and wires completely away from the wall. Try resetting the breaker now. If the breaker resets than you need to carefully place the wires and device back into the electrical box.
