How to Install a Tandem Breaker

Installing breakers in a panel box is easy. But what if your breaker box is full? You may have the option of installing a tandem breaker. A tandem breaker is like two breakers in one. You will have to look at your panel box’s label that should be located on the inside of the panel cover. It will identify whether or not you can install tandem breakers and at which location in the panel. If your panel box is compatible, then all you have to do is remove one of the breakers. Take the wire off that breaker. Buy a tandem breaker.

They make them for all different sizes of circuits. Even for 240 volt circuits with high amperage ratings. Install the old circuit and the new circuit on the tandem breaker. The tandem breaker should snap back into the panel box the same way the old breaker did. After that, turn the breaker on and test your work.
