Why Are My Lights Flickering?

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Why Are My Lights Flickering?

Flickering lights can be very annoying. The problem can be easily solved though. The first thing you want to ask yourself is if you have recently changed the old incandescent lightbulbs to LED lightbulbs. If you have, and those lights are on a dimmer, then this could be your problem. Old dimmers are not compatible with LED lights. This will make your house look like a disco room. The other problem could be a compromised switch. If the switch is bad then it may be supplying sporadic voltage to the light fixture. This too will cause your lights to flicker.

A bad connection from the fixture to the light bulb is also something you can check. If you have done all of these things and your lights still flicker then you may want to call your local utility company and have them check the connections at the meter can and the utility pole. This is usually the problem if your entire house or half your house is flickering.
