How To Run Electrical Wire from Breaker Box to Outlet

There are many electrical codes you need to follow when you want to run a dedicated circuit or if you just want to add another outlet on an existing circuit. One of the most important is too know what size wire to run. If your circuit is on a 15 amp breaker, you want to use 14/2 wire.

If your circuit is on a 20 amp circuit, you want to use 12/2 wire. Make sure you drill your hole through the center of the stud. You do not want the drywallers to screw through your electrical wire. If you don’t drill through the center of the stud then you will need to install a nail plate to protect the wire
